The Hempfield Marching Knights (HMK) are excited to begin the 2026 season, and we invite all new, returning, and interested HHS and invited students — along with their families — to join us for Foundation Day on Saturday, May 16, from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.

This special kickoff event is the first opportunity to gather as a band family, connect with fellow members, meet our outstanding instructional staff, and begin building excitement for the season ahead. Families will also get an exclusive first look at the 2026 HMK production during our official show reveal — always one of the most exciting moments of the Spring.

HMK has built a proud tradition of excellence through engaging performances on the field, spirited support of our school community, and meaningful experiences that shape students far beyond marching band. And even more importantly, HMK is a place where students are mentored by an exceptional staff of educators and designers who are deeply committed to helping every member grow — not only as performers, but as leaders, teammates, and people.

Through hard work, shared purpose, and a culture rooted in support and belonging, students become part of something bigger than themselves. HMK is more than a marching band — it is a team, a tradition of excellence, and a community where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to thrive.

Reminder: Foundation Day — Saturday, May 16 | 9:00 AM–2:00 PM.

We hope to see you there!

LMS Week At A Glance

Hello Parents of LMS Students,

We had another amazing week at LMS! I was so very impressed with the seriousness and effort of all of our students during PSSA testing, and happy to announce that we are officially done with state testing for the year!

This past week we had two students compete at the Civics Bee. At this competition they truly put their civics knowledge to the test through multiple-choice questions and individual questions from panelists about their essays. Both students represented Hempfield exceptionally well and did an outstanding job. Only ten students were selected to compete in this regional bee, so it was impressive to see that two of the ten were from LMS!  Congratulations to both Harper Haines and Rachel Hooper for competing in this event, and to Harper Haines for earning third place.  She will advance to the State Civics Bee that will occur in early June. Best of luck to Harper in that competition!

This week we will host several 6th grade tours for incoming 7th graders and it makes me smile to know that the students who are currently at LMS will be excellent representations of how we conduct ourselves at LMS.  We have a really special group of students and excellent staff here, and it makes me proud when we have the opportunity to open our doors for others to see.

Reminders from previous weeks:

  • On May 14, 2026 we will host a Family Open Gym & Game Night from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Landisville Middle School.  We will offer activities that we participate in during our lunches and Armor Card activities along with board and card games to all students and their families, and provide pizza and other light refreshments to all who attend. Our desire is to spend time together strengthening our relationships and celebrating the great year we have had at LMS. Thank you for being such an integral part of the awesome culture and climate we have established at LMS. Please come celebrate with us if you can make it. This is a drop in event where you can come when you can, for as long as you desire.
  • We have established a PTO at LMS for the 2026-2027 school year. Additional information will be available at the Family Open Gym & Game Night planned for May 14, 2026.  Our initial PTO meeting will take place on May 27 @ 5:00 pm in the LMS Library.  If you’d like to be a part of the PTO at LMS, please plan to attend.
  • Class of 2030 - Date Saver for High School Tour/Orientation Registration - Flyer with Registration Link HERE. I am also posting the Tour/Orientation information to the Class of 2030 Schoology page.

I hope you had a great weekend!

May Character Trait of the Month: Cooperation
