Hempfield School District utilizes a text messaging system to notify parents/guardians of student absences, emergencies, school closings, delays, or unexpected early dismissals. Families no longer need to subscribe or “opt in” to receive the messages. Cell phone numbers are automatically pulled from PowerSchool, our student information system, if your number is listed as MOBILE and not HOME.

To complete or update your demographic information in PowerSchool:

1. Log in to PowerSchool, using the district website: www.hempfieldsd.org
(click on the PowerSchool Link) Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive.

This process will NOT work using the app. You must use a laptop or desktop computer.

2. Select the student you wish to update along the top (if you have more than one student, you need to complete one demographic form for each student)

3. Select the Student Demographic Information Update icon on the left-hand side (scroll to the bottom);

4. Enter your child’s date of birth for authentication.

5. Select “Begin Forms.”

6. After making your updates, the last page will show you a summary and a submit button. Click submit. Double-check to ensure your cell phone number is listed as 'MOBILE' and not 'HOME' phone from the dropdown menu.

7. For additional assistance:
https://www.hempfieldsd.org/operations/technology-department/student-demographic-information

Email powerschool@hempfieldsd.org for any questions regarding your Parent PowerSchool Portal account, or Parent Schoology account

Only MOBILE phone numbers listed in PowerSchool will receive text messages. If you are not a child’s parent or guardian listed in PowerSchool or a Hempfield staff member, you will no longer receive text messages from Hempfield School District.

LMS Week At A Glance

Hello Parents of LMS Students,

We had a special week at LMS, and have so much to be thankful for here.  From the supportive families and volunteers, to our awesome support staff, cafeteria staff, custodial staff, and teachers to the amazing students that we have the privilege of working with each day.  Thank you for trusting us with their education and well-being at school, and for being great partners in their education.

We had our mega-party and limo lunch for the students who met the fundraiser criteria to participate. Thank you again to all of the students and their families who participated for supporting our school financially. It allows us to continue to offer a variety of activities and resources at LMS, and is greatly appreciated.

On Friday we held our school wide Spelling Bee and had four finalists who will move on to the County Wide Bee through WITF.  Congratulations to Alannah Flynn, Andrew Holton, Parker Miller, and Devonah Mahesh-Nithya!

We ended the day on Friday with our second annual Turkey Hangout celebration in the stadium where we spent time together as an entire student body and staff.  It is special to be able to do this, and I thank the staff and students for a great event.  I hope everyone has a great break and wonderful Thanksgiving!

Please read the following information from our District Chief Information Officer regarding automated attendance calls (and texts):

Automated attendance calls (and texts) will start after Thanksgiving break.  Our new mass notification system added the ability to text, and we’ll be enabling that for attendance messages.

Attendance notifications will be sent to contacts marked as “lives with”.  These contacts will receive a text if their phone number in PowerSchool is marked as mobile.  They will also receive an email.  A traditional phone call will still be placed to the student’s home number listed in PowerSchool.  Notifications are sent to UA’s and UL’s as of 10:00 am with the message being sent at 10:30 am.  Contact information can be updated via the PowerSchool parent portal or by contacting a school office.

Character Trait of the Month (December): Responsibility

A responsible person takes charge of him or herself and their actions and conduct.  They refuse to blame others for their actions.  They think before they act and can be held accountable for their words.
