The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) may be sending postcards to a representative sample of families of students receiving special education services, inviting them to participate in a brief survey. This survey helps the state understand how well schools are partnering with families to support students with disabilities. If you receive a postcard, please consider participating—your feedback is anonymous, confidential, and valuable. Not all families will receive a survey, as participants are selected through a statewide sampling process.

Across the Hempfield School District, something meaningful is happening every day. A teacher tries something new. A student discovers something they didn’t know they could do. A community partner steps forward to help make it possible.

This work is built moment by moment… idea by idea… partnership by partnership. We are grateful to share a few of those stories with you.

LMS Week At A Glance

Hello Parents of LMS Students,

I hope you were able to spend some time outside this past weekend and enjoy the beautiful spring weather we were blessed with.  We had another wonderful Student of the Quarter ceremony last week and were able to honor another 40 students for their efforts during quarter 3.  We are so very proud of each of them for being recognized by their teachers as upholding the ideals and values we strive to meet at LMS.

I have a lot of information about upcoming opportunities for students and families in this message.  Please spend some time reading the information below and feel free to share it with anyone you feel would be interested.

This week we have our Night of the Arts on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:30 pm at LMS.  I encourage you to come with your children and enjoy the art work that is displayed from all students across both grade levels.  This is a drop in where you can come at any time and peruse the art work at your leisure. We also have a Book Fair going on throughout this week that coincides with our Night of the Arts. We have books and information available for students to review throughout the week at LMS and additional flyers have been distributed to elementary schools. If you have any questions about the Book Fair you can reach out to Annabelle Evans directly via email at: annabelle_evans@hempfieldsd.org

Administration has been working closely with the Parent Advisory Council at LMS to plan a Family night in May for all current students and their families.  I am excited to announce that on May 14, 2026 we will host a Family Open Gym & Game Night from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Landisville Middle School.  We will offer activities that we participate in during our lunches and Armor Card activities along with board and card games to all students and their families, and provide pizza and other light refreshments to all who attend. Our desire is to spend time together strengthening our relationships and celebrating the great year we have had at LMS. Thank you for being such an integral part of the awesome culture and climate we have established at LMS. Please come celebrate with us if you can make it. This is a drop in event where you can come when you can, for as long as you desire.

We have established a PTO at LMS for the 2026-2027 school year. Additional information will be available at the Family Open Gym & Game Night planned for May 14, 2026.  We will be sharing a date in the near future about a date for the initial PTO meeting and how you can be a part of the newly established LMS PTO! I am very excited to be starting that endeavor and the partnership it will create to lead to additional opportunities and resources for our LMS school community.

The Hempfield Memorial Day Ceremony Committee would like to extend an invitation to all students in the Hempfield School District to participate in their essay contest. This will mark the 12th year of the essay contest. The top three essays will be read at a Memorial Day Ceremony and the winners receive a nice monetary reward. Here is a document with details about the event. We will also be sharing this information with students in our ELA classes and encouraging them to participate.

Fun Fest is coming up on May 1.  We will be distributing flyers to LMS students in Mid-April and forms will be collected over lunches during the week of April 27.

Class of 2030 - Date Saver for High School Tour/Orientation Registration - Flyer with Registration Link HERE. I am also posting the Tour/Orientation information to the Class of 2030 Schoology page.

I hope you’ve had a tremendous weekend!
